A Comparison of Existing Bootstrap Algorithms for Multi-Stage Sampling Designs

نویسندگان

چکیده

Multi-stage sampling designs are often used in household surveys because a frame of elements may not be available or for cost considerations when data collection involves face-to-face interviews. In this context, variance estimation is complex task as it relies on the availability second-order inclusion probabilities at each stage. To cope with issue, several bootstrap algorithms have been proposed literature context two-stage design. paper, we describe some these and compare them empirically terms bias, stability, coverage probability.

Partial inspection problem with double sampling designs in multi-stage systems considering cost uncertainty

The nature of input materials is changed as long as the product reaches the consumer in many types of manufacturing processes. In designing and improving multi-stage systems, the study of the steps separately may not lead to the greatest possible improvement in the whole system, therefore the study of inputs and outputs of each stage can be effective in improving the output quality characterist...

A comparison of bayesian adaptive randomization and multi-stage designs for multi-arm clinical trials

When several experimental treatments are available for testing, multi-arm trials provide gains in efficiency over separate trials. Including interim analyses allows the investigator to effectively use the data gathered during the trial. Bayesian adaptive randomization (AR) and multi-arm multi-stage (MAMS) designs are two distinct methods that use patient outcomes to improve the efficiency and e...

Sensitivity Analysis of Spatial Sampling Designs for Optimal Prediction

In spatial statistic, the data analyzed which is correlated and this correlation is due to their locations in the studied region. Such correlation that is related to distance between observations is called spatial correlation. Usually in spatial data analysis, the prediction of the amount of uncertain quantity in arbitrary 4locations of the area is considered according to attained observations ...

Algorithms for response adaptive sampling designs

An experimental design is a formula or algorithm that specifies how resources are to be utilized throughout a study. The design is considered to be good or even optimal if it allows for sufficiently precise and accurate data analysis with the least output of resources such as time, money and experimental units. Most experimental designs use fixed sampling procedures in which the sample sizes an...

A Direct Bootstrap Method for Complex Sampling Designs From a Finite Population

In complex designs, classical bootstrap methods result in a biased variance estimator when the sampling design is not taken into account. Resampled units are usually rescaled or weighted in order to achieve unbiasedness in the linear case. In the present article, we propose novel resampling methods that may be directly applied to variance estimation. These methods consist of selecting subsample...
